LAYER IT UP FOR SPRING AND SUMMER!
Spring is in the air and summer is around the corner. Less is not more when it comes to jewelry. Ladies, let’s discuss layering.
I get this question all the time when helping customers choose special pieces of my jewelry line, Ora Nicole Jewelry. Can I layer? What do I layer? Can I mix and match textures and gold? My answer is always “Yes! yes and yes”.
You can always start with jewelry you have at home. I love to mix weights, textures, metals and geometric shapes. I have been layering my necklaces for a very long time and this is a big one for Spring and Summer.
Start with the shortest piece and end with the longest. When you layer by length – each piece will end up laying nicely and will not end up in a tangled mess in the end. I prefer to start with a 14″ necklace which almost appears as a choker, then I add a 16″ necklace. I will usually end with an 18″ lariat with a 5″ inch drop. You can also work any kind of longer necklace. Mixing metal weights between thinner and thicker chains will also create a beautiful look and prevent tangling.
I love lariats, charms and chokers which are very sexy and appealing. Do not be afraid to wear them. Once you get comfortable with the idea of layering then try to mix everything up such as textures and colors. All colors, (white, yellow and rose) collaborate well together. For metal colors, lets discuss rose gold for a moment. One of my all time favorite looks is adding rose gold to layered necklaces, cuffs and rings. Rose gold has been a trend since 2016 and has really picked up for Spring and Summer 2018. Rose gold is your friend. It looks beautiful on women of all skin tones and colors.
Chokers can also be layered with different textures. Layer your statement makers on top (the pieces that really pop with color such as gemstones or colored pearls) and then work your way down to more delicate. You can also reverse this look and start with delicate and end with bold. Both techniques will give you a very sophisticated and polished look.
Layering does not have to break the bank and you can achieve this look with pieces you already have at home. Start layering and have fun trying new ways of wearing your baubles and chains for the summer season.
